Back-to-School Tax-Free Weekend in Texas is THIS WEEKEND! August 7-9, 2026! You can purchase certain items without paying sales tax. This includes most clothing, footwear, school supplies, and backpacks priced under $100. The exemption applies to qualifying items purchased between Friday, August 7th and midnight Sunday, August 9th.
What qualifies for the Texas tax-free weekend?
👟👖Most clothing and footwear priced under $100 per item. Examples include shirts, jeans, dresses, socks, sneakers, school uniforms, raincoats, and cowboy boots.
📚✏School supplies under $100 per item. This covers items like pencils, pens, notebooks, binders, glue, calculators, and art supplies.
🎒Backpacks priced under $100 each. This includes wheeled backpacks and messenger bags. Shoppers can purchase up to 10 backpacks tax-free at once.
