What are your thoughts on our new development? Everything has its pros and cons.
🌞RIVERFRONT PARK NEWS, BG!
Riverfront Park Phase 1 is officially a GO! On Tuesday night, the Board of Commissioners said “yes, let’s do this thing” and approved the construction contract with Scott & Murphy, Inc.
Starting this winter (because who doesn’t love breaking ground when it’s freezing?), crews will begin building what will become the regional destination park, aka your future favorite place to kayak, picnic, swing, sunbathe, stroll, rock-trail it, or attend events like a very classy lawn-dweller.
Phase 1 focuses on river safety and setting the stage for the epic phases to come. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming by this summer:
• Boat ramp & kayak launch (your chance to finally be the river adventurer you tell people you are)
• Educational artwork (learn stuff while looking artsy)
• Future projects gallery (because we all love a good teaser)
• Bench swings & sun benches (high-quality lounging, folks)
• Picnic grove (snacks in nature = elite behavior)🌳
• Rock trail & meadow (nature’s runway)
• Event lawn & podium (cue dramatic monologues)
• Temporary parking lot (because walking from your car shouldn’t be the first trail)
• Promenade & plaza (fancy words for “nice places to walk around”)
Total cost: $4.3 million, with help from a National Park Service grant because even the feds want BG to step into its main character park era.
Bottom line: Riverfront Park is happening, it’s going to be amazing, and we can’t wait for you to enjoy every bit of it. Stay tuned. Summer’s going to look real good along the river.
