So I've been going down the rabbit hole as Ben's senior season is 5 weeks old and with only 3 weeks left i started thinking about his career in high school and of course the people he's played beside. When you're a lineman there aren't any headlines for you and this year being especially absent from news articles i figured I give a shout out to Ben and his lineman kin. Since his freshman year MHHS football has had if not the best rushing numbers it's one of the best for sure. This front 5 has been pretty spectacular and they just show up and work and that hard work has produced some pretty awesome stat lines.
Bens freshman year: The Huskies rushed for 1900 yards averaging 196 yards per game ....
All division honors for Ben, the RB, The QB and 1 other lineman
Bens Soph year the stats were unavailable
Bens junior year we rushed for over 2000 yards 203 yards per game
All division, All state for Ben , All state for RB, DB and several Lineman made all division as well as QB
This current year we have about 1000 yards rushing through 5 weeks avg about 195 yards a game. This current Oline is setting the tone for this team. With 3 division games to go they are looking to capture the 3 seed heading into the playoffs. As a unit they have 56 blocks with guys on the ground ( pancakes ) ben has 28 of those. They are our engine , so when you're watching the other guys light up our score board don't forget how they arrived there,
Sr. Ben Martel
Sr. Tommy Thorpe
Sr. Quentin Smith
Jr. Riley Gagner
Soph. Lucas Machado
Have all earned a shout out!! Keep this train rolling guys without you it stays in the station!
