I don't share too much personal info, however; this is something I felt worth sharing.

In 1995, I enlisted into the US Army because I couldn't afford college. Quickly, I shipped off to Cuba to join my unit as we were tasked with guarding the prison in Gitmo (Camp X-Ray). After serving my initial active-duty tour, I got out to move back to my hometown in Buchanan VA. After a few years of attending college and growing a family, I re-enlisted into a local reserve unit (Salem, VA) as an Instructor (an E-4). Time went on and I finished college then became promotable to Sergeant First Class when I was encouraged to submit my packet to be Direct Commissioned as an Army Officer, which at the time felt like a serious long shot (the type of long shot where you don't tell anyone what you are doing because it’s likely not going to happen). Low and behold, I earned the direct commission and was promoted to 1LT as a Military Intelligence Officer. Since then, I have served several positions such as a Company Commander in Salem VA, combat tour in Iraq (2010-2011) with an unnamed Task Force doing "things,” Executive Officer, & DoD Enabler Military Advisory Group in Saudi Arabia (2015-2016). More recently, I have had the privilege of serving as the Assistant Professor of Military Science at Virginia Military Institute. Along the way I was fortunate to watch my children become amazing people, managed to maintain a rewarding career in Law Enforcement, earned my Master’s degree from Liberty University, and kinda got this real estate thing going pretty good.

All of this to say: It has been quite the adventure to get here, but I found out this week that I was accepted to Liberty University's PhD Program and today I found out that I made the U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Promotion List. The second half of 2024 is shaping up to be a little busy!

Thank you to all the right people on the bus with me that have and continue to encourage me (with all things) along the way...family, friends, colleagues, and coworkers! I couldn’t have done this without you.
