🎀 BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH | SURVIVOR SPOTLIGHT 🎀
Today, Pink Ribbon Realty is honored to recognize Angel Pigott, a breast cancer survivor whose story is a beautiful reminder of the importance of early detection, the power of faith, and the strength of a fighter. 💗
Her daughter, Makenzie Hayes, shared these heartfelt words about her mother’s journey, and we wanted to share them exactly as she wrote them.

My mama, Angel Pigott, went in for her yearly mammogram the summer of 2021.
The technician found a small cyst that she wanted Mom to have biopsied. The small cyst ended up being Triple Negative Invasive Ductal Carcinoma.
Triple Negative IDC is a very aggressive form of breast cancer. The surgeon told mom if they wouldn’t have caught the cancer when they did, her body would have been covered with cancer by the time her next mammogram would have been scheduled the next year.
Mom’s breast surgeon told her it was a miracle the tech found the spot and sent her for a biopsy when she did. We praise the Lord for giving Mom that specific tech and giving that tech the wisdom to find the cancer most would have missed.
Mom went through multiple rounds of chemo throughout that summer and had a double mastectomy in September that year.
Mom never complained once; from the day of her diagnosis through the chemo through the surgery and everything in between, she never complained.
In fact, I think she held our family together during this scary time more than we held her together. She was so strong. So brave. So positive.
I once asked her if she ever cried or worried about having cancer because she never seemed upset or worried. She said the day she got diagnosed she remembers praying and found herself saying, “Why me, God?” And she felt his sweet, calm presence and felt the words, “Why not you?”
From that moment forward, she decided to look at all the ways she had been blessed and to trust the Lord no matter what His plan was for her.
The Lord took care of her and last week Mom attended her 5 year check up where she was once again told she is CANCER FREE!
Our God is so good to us. He protected Mom. He strengthened her faith. (And my faith.) He was with her (and us) every single step of the way.
My mom is a fighter. She is my hero & my very favorite cancer survivor!
I love you, mom! I’m so thankful for you & all you taught me during your cancer journey. I learned so much from you during that time. My favorite thing I learned by watching you fight is that God is in control & we can trust Him in every circumstance no matter the outcome.
I asked Mom a few years ago if she had any advice for women during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and she said, “Never miss a mammogram. A mammogram saved my life.”
