Have you ever been to Stan Hywet? It's gorgeous!
Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is a historic 70-acre estate featuring a 65-room Tudor Revival manor house in Akron, Ohio.
Address: 714 N. Portage Path, Akron, OH 44303 (located in the Akron neighborhood area)
Hours: Tuesday–Sunday from 10 AM–6 PM (last admission at 4 PM); closed on Mondays. Open April through December.
Tour Duration: Plan for about 1.5 hours to tour the Manor House, gardens, Gate Lodge, and Corbin Conservatory.
Manor House: A massive 64,500-square-foot home built for F.A. Seiberling (co-founder of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company) and his wife, Gertrude, completed in 1915. It is the sixth-largest historic home open to the public in the United States. Today, over 95% of the interior furnishings are completely original to the Seiberling family.
The Gardens: Approximately 70 acres of formal gardens, a Birch Tree Allée, and the Great Meadow.
The Gate Lodge: Famous as the historic meeting place in 1935 where the foundational principles of Alcoholics Anonymous were first discussed.
Corbin Conservatory: Features rotating botanical displays, exotic plants, and citrus collections.
Because Stan Hywet is a National Historic Landmark that has been transferred to a public trust, it is not on the commercial market and does not have a traditional "Zillow-style" market value. However, its historical significance and replacement costs tell a story of immense value!
