🚨 Scam Alert 🚨
Fraudulent text messages and emails are nothing new, and we’ve seen evidence of them in this area again recently.
One recent text that is circulating claims to be from the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles, warning of an “outstanding traffic violation” and demanding immediate payment. These messages often threaten serious consequences like suspended registration, revoked driving privileges, and added fees — and include a suspicious payment link.
⚠️ Don’t fall for it!
If you receive a text you weren’t expecting that asks for personal or financial information, do NOT click any links.
✔️ Legitimate agencies will NOT ask for sensitive information via text.
✔️ When in doubt, contact the agency directly using a trusted phone number or official website — not the info provided in the message.
