💙 Showing up for our neighbors in need! Since 1995, Feeding Greene Food Pantry (.inc) () has worked to ensure no one in our community goes to bed hungry — now serving more than 900 families and distributing over 120,000 pounds of food each month.🥫

Recently, REALTORS® and affiliates from CAAR rolled up their sleeves to support this incredible mission. Volunteers packed food boxes for delivery (a critical need), prepared materials for the Backpack Program that supports local youth, and helped set up space for the Virginia Black Bear Festival. They also kept operations running smoothly for the store by sweeping and mopping floors, inspecting bags for reuse, and donating CAAR reusable grocery bags for pantry patrons.

At CAAR, we believe it’s our responsibility to be present, engaged, and supportive of our community — especially for neighbors facing food insecurity. This year, we’re proud to expand our impact by partnering with food pantries across our outlying counties.

🏡 June is National Homeownership Month!

At CAAR, we’re proud to celebrate the value of homeownership — and the role REALTORS® play in helping make that dream a reality for more individuals and families in our community.

This month, the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) is highlighting important advocacy efforts to expand homeownership opportunities nationwide, including:

• Addressing the housing shortage and boosting inventory

• Supporting legislation to build and preserve affordable housing

• Encouraging investment in communities and revitalizing underused spaces

• Expanding access for first-time homebuyers

• Advancing fair housing and equal access for all

Homeownership remains one of the most powerful pathways to building wealth, stability, and stronger communities — and we’re committed to helping open more doors.

In April, CAAR brought the membership and community together for Equity in Motion: A Fair Housing Symposium at the Hillsdale Conference Center — focused on advancing housing access for Black and African American communities.

Thanks to the incredible support of our sponsors, Virginia Housing () and Gray Fox Mortgage (), and everyone who attended, we raised over $3,000 for the Building Goodness Foundation () — creating spaces where communities can thrive!

✨ Equity in Motion: A Fair Housing Symposium – Thank You! ✨

April is Fair Housing Month, and last Thursday evening we were honored to gather with CAAR members and community partners for Equity in Motion: A Fair Housing Symposium at the Hillsdale Conference Center.

Through thoughtful conversation and community connection, we explored the systemic barriers that continue to limit housing access for Black and African American communities. We are deeply grateful to our incredible panelists and facilitators for sharing their time, expertise, and lived experiences:

- Jada Howard, Piedmont Community Land Trust
- Joy Johnson, Public Housing Association of Residents (PHAR)
- Jordy Yager, Jefferson School African American Heritage Center
- S. Lisa Herndon, CAAR Past President & Co‑Facilitator
- Roxanne Carter‑Johnston, CAAR Board Member & Co‑Facilitator

Education and dialogue were at the heart of the evening, complemented by food, music, and line dancing that celebrated the richness and joy of Black and African American culture — reminding us that community building happens in many powerful ways.

We’re also grateful to our local partners who helped make the night so memorable: Smoov Moving, Reggie Wattz - The People’s DJ, Dem Keys Boyz, and Fifty Leven Wine. Proceeds from the event will benefit Building Goodness Foundation, extending the impact even further.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and continues to champion fair housing in our community. 💙🏡
