When people talk about crime, they often focus on race. But the actual homicide data tells a different story.

• White victims are overwhelmingly killed by White offenders. • Black victims are overwhelmingly killed by Black offenders. • Hispanic victims are overwhelmingly killed by Hispanic offenders. • Asian victims are most often killed by people they know or from within their communities.

Why?

Because most people live, work, date, attend school, and socialize with people who look like them and live near them.

Murder is largely driven by proximity, relationships, and environment, not by strangers from another race.

Facts matter. The media often focuses on rare cases, but the statistics show that most violence happens within communities, not between them.
Before repeating stereotypes, look at the data.

This chart shows the 2026 property tax rates across all 50 states, and the gap between the highest and lowest is honestly shocking.

New Jersey sits at the very top with a 2.08% rate. That means if your home is worth $400,000, you are paying over $8,000 a year just in property taxes.

Illinois comes in close behind at 1.95%, and Connecticut is not far off at 1.78%.

Now on the other end, Hawaii has the lowest rate in the entire country at just 0.26%.

Alabama follows at 0.36%, and Colorado and Arizona are both sitting at 0.45%.

Here is the thing most people do not think about when they are buying a home.

The purchase price is not the only number that matters.

A cheaper house in a high tax state can end up costing you more over time than a pricier home in a low tax state.

A lot of people move to Texas thinking they are escaping high costs, but Texas comes in at 1.47%, which is actually higher than California at 0.68%.

That surprises a lot of people.

So before you buy, before you move, before you retire somewhere, look at that property tax rate. It adds up fast over 10, 20, or 30 years.
