Huge shout out to Marisa Clark - CrossCountry Mortgage. When two other lenders couldn't get the deal done, she stepped up and made it happen for us! 🤩 Sometimes they can be difficult to find- if you need someone to do a single wide mobile home loan, she's your girl!

I also have to recognize the buyers for being the sweetest, most understanding people. What a joy to work with. Sometimes there are people who set an excellent example of how we should be and act and these customers are the epitome of that. I truly hope they enjoy their new property and can't wait to work with them again.

As always with every home I sell, a portion of the proceeds go toward adopting a manatee from Save the Manatee Club! This adoptee is named Aqua.🌊☀ She is a regular visitor to Blue Springs State Park since 2011 and has had 5 known calves. ‼️UPDATE: The Jackson County Board of County Commissioners enacted a one-year temporary moratorium on the construction and processing of applications for large-scale AI data centers.‼️

AI Data Center coming to Jackson County? Here’s the 85-acre parcel, which was originally pitched as a solar farm, now being proposed to commissioners for a possible data center. Right below Compass Lake on Highway 231. Being a mile from the Bay County line and less than 3 miles from the Washington County line, this doesn’t just affect Jackson County residents.

Depending on the specific system, data centers have been reported to use hundreds of thousands of gallons up to millions of water PER DAY.

While the chance to bring in extra taxes was brought up at the last meeting, what really needs to be considered is the long term effect it will have on our environment and our people. These data centers have been popping up in many rural towns across the country and all of the residents with firsthand experience say the same thing. They are experiencing noise pollution. Light pollution. Inflated electricity rates. Wells running DRY due to the overconsumption and depletion of water resources. We are already facing a drought, we don’t need anything else sucking up our water.

This is a rural area. People live out here to enjoy the peace and quiet. Enjoy clean flowing water. Enjoy the stars at night. All opposite of what a data center will bring.

Research suggests to avoid the effects of a facility, you should not live within 2.5 miles of a data center. There are dozens of people who live within that radius of this parcel.

External obsolescence: a loss in property value caused by negative, uncontrollable factors outside the property's boundaries. That’s the issue those folks are going to face if their new neighbor is a data center. At the very least, will they get a say in this decision?

This is NOT something our area needs. They are holding a commissioners meeting in Jackson County next week May 26 to discuss this issue further.
