What is Constitution Day?

Today, September 17, we recognize Constitution Day and Citizenship Day.

On September 17, 1787, delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the United States Constitution in Philadelphia. Beginning with the powerful words “We the People,” the Constitution established the framework of our government and outlined the rights and freedoms that continue to shape our nation today.

More than two centuries later, Constitution Day gives us an opportunity to reflect on the principles of citizenship, civic participation, and the rights and responsibilities we share.

At Venture X Downtown Columbia, we’re proud to be a community of entrepreneurs, professionals, organizations, and neighbors who bring different ideas and perspectives together every day.

Today, we celebrate the spirit of “We the People” and the role each of us plays in building strong businesses, strong communities, and a strong future.

September 11, 2001 — a day that changed everything.

Lives were lost. Futures were shattered. Skylines were forever changed.

But within the horror, we also witnessed extraordinary strength, resilience, courage, compassion, and love.

Today, we remember every life lost on that day — the innocent souls who never made it home, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the countless families and communities forever changed.

We honor their lives.
We honor their sacrifice.
We honor the courage of those who stood together in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

May we never forget September 11, 2001.
