Lately I’ve been asked to put up directional signs on street corners to direct traffic to a listing. My quick reply is “sure, if you’re willing to pay the $1,000 fine.”

Doing so is prohibited.

Under Section 4.4.8 of the Columbus Unified Development Ordinance and state laws like Georgia Code § 32-6-51, placing temporary commercial signs on public property is strictly prohibited and face fines up to $1,000 per occurrence.

And if you’re curious, this applies to any signs - politician signs included.
