October is almost here, and as a breast cancer survivor, the month brings up a lot. Gratitude. Memories. And also frustration. Every year, I see corporations slap pink ribbons on products, many of which have no real connection to breast cancer support, and some that even contain harmful ingredients linked to cancer. Welcome, autumn. 🍂 It’s always a little hard to let go of summer. The long days, warm evenings, gardens in full swing, and that feeling that there’s still so much time left.

But the trees are about to remind us that letting go can be beautiful, too. Their leaves will turn brilliant colors, give us one last spectacular show, and then gently let go when the time is right.

Maybe there’s something to learn from that. Here’s to slowing down, embracing the change, and finding the beauty in whatever this next season brings.

The return of flower class at Jacques’ always feels like the unofficial start of fall for me. This month’s arrangement seemed to capture that little in-between moment perfectly. It holds onto the last bits of summer with its lighter blooms and color, while welcoming all the warmth and richness of fall.

And honestly, as much as I love the flowers, one of my favorite parts of these classes is the people. I’ve been taking flower arranging classes at Jacques’ since 2018, and there’s something really special about coming back each month, seeing familiar faces, catching up, and spending a couple of hours creating something beautiful together.

Summer isn’t quite gone, but fall is definitely knocking on the door.

25 years later, September 11 still feels a little surreal.

I was a teenager when it happened. I understood that something terrible had happened, but I don't think I could possibly have understood the full weight of it at the time. Twenty-five years gives you a very different perspective.

Every year, I make a point of watching documentaries and hearing the stories again. Not because I want to relive that day, but because I never want those lives, those stories, or the incredible acts of courage and kindness that came out of that day to be forgotten.

We saw the worst in people on September 11. But we also saw the very best. Strangers helping strangers. First responders running toward unimaginable danger. People opening their homes, giving blood, making calls, searching for loved ones, and simply showing up for one another.

There is so much we should remember about that day. The lives lost. The families changed forever. The people who were there. And the humanity that emerged in the midst of something so horrific.

Always remember.

Today, my sellers officially closed the chapter on this beautiful home. I’m so happy for them as they turn the page and get to fully embrace what’s next.
