We worked with Jane after purchasing the 50 acres behind our Riverhouse to ensure the land wouldn't be logged or developed. Our goal was to conserve it, and through Jane's hard work and guidance, Western Pennsylvania Conservancy purchased the property from us through a bargain sale and created the Joshua C. Whetzel, Jr. Hiking Trail.

The half-mile, out-and-back trail begins at the bike trail parking lot (next to the Riverhouse) and climbs the hillside to a scenic overlook with beautiful views of the southern edge of Confluence, sections of the GAP Trail, and the Casselman and Youghiogheny Rivers.

I'll admit, I wasn't convinced this ambitious plan would come together. But Jane was steadfast, incredibly knowledgeable, and somehow worked her magic. Thanks to her dedication, Confluence now has a remarkable piece of land that will be protected forever.

Local goods!

We are getting hyper local at Pamela’s Pints & Provisions this weekend. We have a fabulous Morel Mushroom and Ramp Quiche featured special this weekend. Paired with greens and our favorite freshly baked local sourdough. We are also serving up a Pear and Gorgonzola Flatbread, the Provisions Salad with rotisserie chicken, avocado and house made vinaigrette, and Loaded Potato Soup. Come in hungry!

Come visit Laurel Caverns

It’s official! Pennsylvania has a new state park!

Laurel Caverns is our 125th state park and our first-ever subterranean state park. Laurel Caverns is one of the largest calcareous sandstone caves in the world and one of the steepest!

The cave has more than four miles of passages to explore. This is such a wonderful addition to our already stellar state park system!
