Hydrozone Your Yard: Group plants with similar water needs together. This ensures your "thirsty" hydrangeas aren't drowning your drought-tolerant lavender.

Mulch is Non-Negotiable: Apply a 3-inch layer of organic mulch. It acts as a "skin" for your soil, reducing evaporation by up to 70% and keeping roots cool in the summer heat.

Plant "California Natives": Opt for Cleveland Sage, California Lilac, or Coffeeberry. They’ve evolved to thrive in our dry summers and require 60–80% less water than traditional turf.
