A community shows you who it is when people are needed most. ❤️

Earlier this week, crews responded to a large grass fire off FM 51 north of Decatur. According to the Decatur Fire Department , firefighters worked continuously for hours, with the Texas A&M Forest Service and other responding agencies helping make sure the area was safe.

And while they were taking care of the community, the community started taking care of them.

Water. Electrolyte drinks. Snacks. Meals. Supplies. People and local organizations simply started showing up.

The response became so overwhelming that the Decatur Fire Department later shared that they were extremely well stocked and had even been able to share supplies with some of their mutual aid partners.

Lori Donald with SignWise supplied crews with 80 Subway sandwiches. First United Methodist Church brought sandwiches, snacks and Gatorade. And those were only part of the many donations that continued coming through the doors.

The Fire Department summed it up beautifully when they shared just how grateful they were for a community that continues to show up for them.

That is something special about a place like Decatur.

It is easy to talk about small-town charm when things are quiet and life is going well. But community means even more when something happens and neighbors, businesses, churches and first responders immediately start looking for ways to take care of one another.

To the Decatur Fire Department, the Texas A&M Forest Service, every responding agency and every person who helped support these crews this week, thank you. ❤️

When you picture the home you want to build, how much thought do you give to what happens beyond the walls?
