Planning a renovation or demolition project? Don’t overlook the possibility of asbestos-containing materials.
In most municipalities, an asbestos survey is required for all demolition projects and for renovation projects when more than 160 square feet of suspect asbestos-containing material may be disturbed.
And asbestos surveys aren’t limited to commercial buildings. Depending on the project and local permitting requirements, residential properties may also require an asbestos survey before renovation or demolition work begins.
What happens during asbestos testing?
🔹 The work area and suspect materials are evaluated
🔹 Small samples are carefully collected
🔹 Samples are submitted to a qualified laboratory
🔹 You receive written results explaining the findings
Never cut, sand, scrape, remove or otherwise disturb a material you suspect may contain asbestos. Testing should take place before the work begins.
