The Fed meets this Wednesday, October 28th, and whatever they do hits your wallet — pause or hike. Here's what to do before they announce.

One: credit cards. If they hike, variable rates reset higher within a billing cycle or two. Anything you carry gets more expensive. Attack the highest-rate card now, not after.

Two: car loans. Auto rates move with the Fed. If you're shopping, get pre-approved before Wednesday so a decision doesn't reprice your loan.

Three: savings. A pause means high-yield rates hold where they are — shop them now, because if the economy cools later, those yields drop.

Four: mortgages. A hold gives you breathing room, not a discount. If you were going to refinance, the day after the decision is when lenders reprice — be ready to lock.
