One of the things I like most about the kitchen at 622 Timber Lane is that the design doesn’t depend on one dramatic feature.

There's a question I get a lot from buyers touring older two-story homes, usually a few months after they've closed: "Why is it so much hotter up here?"

It almost always comes back to the same thing — one thermostat trying to cool two floors, in a climate that doesn't make that easy. It's common in a lot of the older two-story stock around OKC and Edmond, and it's rarely something buyers think to ask about during a showing in cooler weather. The house isn't broken. It just wasn't built with zoning in mind.

Worth asking about before you fall in love with the upstairs primary suite in October.

Around the Corner started as The Corner Restaurant, and the name has changed but the address hasn't. Same corner, same breakfast and lunch crowd, decades of regulars who've been coming in for pancakes and blue plate specials since before most of downtown Edmond looked anything like it does now.

If you're wondering what makes downtown Edmond different from a lot of newer OKC metro suburbs, this is part of the answer. It's not just new development. It's places like this one that have stuck around long enough to become part of the fabric, even as the storefronts around them keep changing.
