Several months. Hundreds of decisions. One very bold vision. The reveal of Habana Nights Hideaway is finally here, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share it with you. What makes this story even better is that this all started with one conversation.
When Anna first came to me about designing her brand-new cabin, my original thought was to lean into the name of the road, Sleepy Hollow. I was envisioning something moody, woodsy, and inspired by that whole Ichabod Crane vibe. But during one of our conversations, she mentioned she was originally from Cuba and wanted a domino table,
because dominos are such a huge part of Cuban culture. And that was it. The entire vision shifted. Suddenly, this little mountain cabin in North Georgia became an opportunity to create something completely unexpected; a Cuban-inspired hideaway. What’s even crazier is that a couple months later, I was outside at the property talking with a neighbor who was walking her dogs. Come to find out, HER name was Anna too. She was also an accountant. ALSO, from Miami. I’m standing there thinking there is absolutely no way this is real life.
But then she shared something really interesting with me. Apparently Walnut Mountain actually has a pretty decent Cuban community, and they do gatherings, domino nights, and events at the clubhouse all the time. So somehow this whole concept that originally felt unexpected, ended up making perfect sense. I designed this property from soup to nuts. Furnishings, styling, finishes, color direction, lighting, layout flow, even guidance for the downstairs epoxy flooring after the original carpeting plans changed.
Not long ago, Anna invited me to a family dinner at the cabin, and it honestly felt like being welcomed into the family. She made me vegetarian black beans and broccoli casserole because she knows I’m vegetarian, there was homemade flan involved (which was ridiculously delicious), everybody was laughing, hanging out, and enjoying the space together, and watching that happen was one of those moments where you realize the house already has a heartbeat.
Truthfully? I think she may end up loving this place too much to ever let strangers take it over full-time. And that’s kind of the magic of creating spaces with soul. Sometimes they become more than an investment property. Sometimes they become home. If you want a short-term rental that feels unforgettable instead of forgettable, let’s create something remarkable.
