Today is Memorial Day.

This is the Battlefield Cross.

Many have seen the boots, rifle, and helmet before, but not everyone understands what they represent within the military community.

Created by fellow service members on the battlefield, the Battlefield Cross serves as a temporary memorial honoring a fallen warrior until they can be brought home.

Each piece carries meaning.

The boots represent the final march.
The rifle placed downward signifies the battle paused.
The helmet honors the identity of the fallen.
And the dog tags remind us there was a real person behind the uniform. A name. A family. A story.

It is not a symbol of war.

It is a symbol of remembrance.

Today, we honor those who never made it home, the families who continue carrying that loss, and the sacrifices that made our freedoms possible.

We remember the fallen.
We stand beside their families.
And we will never forget.

One of the most recognized symbols of military remembrance is the folded American flag presented during military funeral honors.

Carefully folded into a triangle by an honor guard, the flag represents honor, sacrifice, remembrance, and the gratitude of a nation for those who served.

While many traditions and meanings have become associated with each fold over time, the ceremony itself remains one of the most solemn acts of military respect for a fallen service member and their family.

For many military families, the folded flag becomes more than a symbol.
It becomes a lasting reminder of service, sacrifice, and a life dedicated to something greater than self.

As Memorial Day approaches, we continue sharing the traditions and meanings behind many of the symbols seen throughout the military community during this weekend of remembrance.

We honor the fallen.
We remember their sacrifice.
And we stand beside the families who carry that loss forward.

Many people visit cemeteries and memorials over Memorial Day weekend and may notice coins left on headstones without fully understanding why.

Within the military community, each coin carries meaning.

A penny may simply mean someone visited.
A nickel may mean they trained together.
A dime may mean they served together.
And a quarter often signifies someone was there when that service member passed.

Small gestures. Deep meaning.

As a community built around service, remembrance, and support for military families, we wanted to share some of the traditions and symbols that continue honoring those who gave everything.

Over the next several days, we will be sharing additional educational posts to help others better understand the meaning behind many of the military traditions seen during Memorial Day weekend.

We remember the fallen.
We honor their families.
And we never forget.

Today is RED Day

Across communities nationwide, Keller Williams agents are stepping away from business for a moment to focus on something bigger: service.

Inside KW Military, many of our agents, spouses, and families come from backgrounds where service was already part of life long before real estate.

Today is simply an extension of that mission.

From supporting local nonprofits and food banks to helping military families, veterans, seniors, and first responders, agents across the country are showing up for the communities they serve every day.

Because service should not stop at the transaction.

And for many in this community, it never stopped with the uniform.

Happy Mother's Day from KW Military.

Today we honor two women who carry this community.

To the mother of a soldier: you raised someone who chose something bigger than themselves. You watched them leave. You waited for the call. You held your breath more times than anyone knows. The strength they carry started with you.

To the mother holding down the fort: you are the one keeping it all running. The PCS boxes. The school enrollments. The bedtime questions about when they are coming home. You do not get a deployment patch, but you are serving every single day.

Some of you are both.

This community exists because of women like you. Not just today. Every day.
