Juneteenth marks a powerful moment in history.

On June 19, 1865, Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that slavery had officially ended—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

With the reading of General Orders No. 3, the people of Galveston learned that the Civil War was over and that all enslaved individuals were now free.

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, is a time to honor freedom, reflect on history, and celebrate progress. ❤️🖤💚
