Moving to Lee County? Start With This Before You Pick a Neighborhood..
There isn't one “best” area of Lee County. The better question is which area best fits the way you expect to live.
A buyer who wants boating access may arrive at a completely different answer than someone who wants newer construction, a shorter airport commute, walkability, acreage, golf, or proximity to the beaches. Even communities that are only 15–20 miles apart can feel very different.
For example, Cape Coral offers an enormous range of canal and non-waterfront neighborhoods. Fort Myers ranges from established areas near McGregor Boulevard to newer master-planned communities farther east.
Estero and Bonita Springs offer substantial newer development, gated communities, shopping and recreation, while other parts of Lee County can provide more land or a less master-planned environment. Estero and Bonita Springs, for example, sit south of Fort Myers and have become significant residential, shopping and recreation centers.
Before buying: Don't begin with a subdivision. Begin with your priorities: budget, commute, waterfront needs, home age, HOA preference, amenities and how often you expect to drive to the places that matter to you.
