Repurposed Playground Sculptures at Waterside | Placemaking Icon No. 3

The latest in our placemaking series, celebrating the art that shapes our properties. 🎨

Created by the late Texas artist Bob "Daddy-O" Wade, this whimsical collection transformed amusement rides and playground equipment from the site's days as the Lockheed Martin Recreation Association, and before that, General Dynamics, into something entirely new. Known for his quirky, oversized tributes to Texas culture, Wade had a rare gift for turning the ordinary into the unforgettable.

Anchored within The Grove, Waterside's signature gathering space, the sculptures stood as a playful nod to the site's storied past and an open invitation to gather, wander, and connect.
