Our office will be closed Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.

Labor Day, observed on the first Monday of September, honors the contributions and achievements of American workers. The holiday grew out of the labor movement of the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894.

As we take a day to recognize the value of work and the people who make our communities stronger, we’re grateful for the many individuals who show up every day—through their work, service, and generosity—to help make a difference.

While our office is closed, both of our shelters will continue operating on their normal schedules.

If you need assistance, please call 240-415-8041.

Our office will reopen Tuesday, September 8, during regular business hours.

Wishing you a safe and meaningful Labor Day!

A great partnership is about more than what you give—it’s about what we can accomplish together. 💙

We’re grateful for our ongoing partnership with Spectrum Support, Inc. and the wonderful volunteers who join us each week at Beyond Shelter.

This week, the group helped us prepare and stuff bags for our upcoming Beyond Shelter Golf Classic. ⛳️ And while the bags may have been the project of the day, the real value of this partnership goes far beyond one task.

By volunteering with Beyond Shelter, the Spectrum Support Services team has become a valued part of our community of volunteers—sharing their time and talents while connecting with our organization and supporting our mission.

That's what a meaningful community partnership looks like:

- Creating opportunities to contribute
- Building connections within our community
- Sharing time and talents
- Supporting one another
- Working together toward a common purpose

We’re thankful to have Spectrum Support as part of the Beyond Shelter community and appreciate the commitment they bring to us week after week.

Thank you for showing up, being part of the team, and helping us make a difference!

Together, we’re illuminating paths to hope.

HYDRATE & HELP 💧
WE’RE OUT OF WATER.

Bottled water is an everyday essential for the individuals and families staying at our shelters—and right now, our shelves are empty.

We’re asking our community to help us restock with bottled water. A case from you can help make sure our residents have access to something as basic and essential as drinking water.

The need doesn’t end when the weather changes. Water is needed year-round.

Bring a case. Fill a shelf. Hydrate & Help.

📍 Donations can be dropped off Monday–Friday, 9:30 AM–3:30 PM at our main office:

27 Degrange Street
Frederick, MD 21701

📦 Ordering online? Amazon can deliver directly to this address as well.

Thank you for helping us keep our shelters stocked with this everyday essential.

National Senior Citizens Day

Today, we’re recognizing the older adults in our community — and shining a light on a reality that can be easy to overlook.

In just the past seven months, 29 seniors over the age of 62 have received shelter through Beyond Shelter.

Behind that number are 29 people who needed a safe place to stay during a difficult time. Housing instability can happen at any age, and no one should have to face it alone.

This National Senior Citizens Day, help us make sure there is a safe place to turn when someone needs it.

Your gift to Beyond Shelter helps provide shelter and the support people need to move toward safe, stable housing.

A new school year should mean new backpacks, new teachers, and new beginnings—not wondering where you’ll sleep tonight.

As children across Frederick County head back to school today, we can’t forget the sobering reality facing thousands of children across our country.

According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, 148,238 children under the age of 18 experienced homelessness on a single night in January 2024—a 33% increase from the year before. Children experienced the largest increase of any age group. At the same time, homelessness among people in families with children rose by 39%.

Here in Frederick County, Beyond Shelter is working EVERY DAY to change that story.

Since opening our permanent Emergency Family Shelter in April 2022, we have provided shelter to 276 children—from newborns to 18-year-olds.

That means 276 children who had a safe place to sleep.
276 children who had a place to feel secure.
276 children who had the opportunity to focus on school, family, and simply being a kid.

Because behind every statistic is a child.

A child who deserves to walk into their classroom knowing they have a safe place to come home to.

When you support Beyond Shelter, you are helping make that possible. 💙

Help us provide safety, stability, and hope to children and families in our community:
