🚨 Escrow Surprise! 🚨

This week, an appraiser called out security bars on a bedroom window during our transaction. With little time before finalizing the appraiser report, we had to coordinate having the bars removed from one day to the next. 🏡🔨😅

Many homeowners don’t realize that bedroom windows are considered an important means of escape in an emergency. 🔥 If security bars are installed, they may need an approved quick-release mechanism, and windows must meet certain safety requirements.

Ironically, this is the second time I’ve seen window safety become an issue during escrow.

The takeaway? If your home has window bars, don’t wait until an inspection or appraisal to find out whether they’ll be a problem. A little preparation can save a lot of stress, last-minute repairs, and potential delays.

Real estate is full of surprises—and sometimes they’re hiding right in plain sight. 👀
