Buyers often assume the well is covered by the home inspection. It is not, at least not the way they are picturing it.
A standard inspection looks at the plumbing and the equipment. We check the cap and seal, the wiring, the pressure tank and how the system holds pressure. What none of that tells you is what is actually in the water.
That takes a lab test, and in Maine the list worth running is longer than most people expect. Arsenic, uranium, radon and bacteria all turn up in bedrock wells here.
