Last Saturday, we traded job sites for picnic tables and spent some time together outside of work.

A big thank you to everyone who came out and made the Wolfe Homes Family Picnic such a great afternoon. Good food, games, laughs, and even better company. We’re grateful for the people who make Wolfe Homes what it is every day.

What goes behind the walls matters.

At our Lions Gate Spec House, Alex explains why Wolfe Homes uses 5/8” drywall throughout the home. While this won’t be “seen”by homeowners, it plays an important role in safety for fire resistance, sound control, and it’s a much higher standard for the quality of this build.

It’s one of many choices (unseen) made during the building process to help create a home that performs as well as it looks.

The exterior of this custom home is finished with Accoya wood and Tricoya wood-based panels, with materials sourced through Cardinal Millwork and Supply.

Accoya is a specially treated solid wood that is modified to be more stable and durable. It is designed to resist swelling, shrinking, warping, and decay when exposed to moisture and weather. Tricoya is a high-performance wood-based panel made for exterior use, offering similar benefits with added strength and stability in wet or high-humidity conditions.

These materials were selected for exterior trim, moldings, soffits, and architectural detailing where long-term durability and clean lines are important, helping reduce movement and maintenance over time.

At Wolfe Homes, our work focuses on custom home construction, exterior trim systems, millwork installation, and building with high-performance materials across the Triad and surrounding North Carolina markets.

Daniel and Brandon review the ridge beam and ceiling structure in one of our latest custom homes, highlighting six-by-eight rafters with a shiplap ceiling and 7-inch exposed beam details.

The client sourced timber directly from the property, which was sawed, kiln dried, and processed down to 8 1/4-inch live edge slabs. The material was then ripped, milled, and sized for installation, with final beam work completed by Ritenis Woodworks, including hand-hewn texture and detailing to achieve an authentic early-1900s look.

At Wolfe Homes, this project reflects our approach to custom home building —combining structural framing, timber work, and interior finish coordination to deliver a cohesive build from start to finish.

Employee Spotlight!

This week we’re highlighting Julie Steele, one of our Design Coordinators here at Wolfe Homes. Julie grew up in Greensboro and Summerfield and discovered her passion for design early on through art and shop classes before pursuing Interior Design in college.

Over her 27-year career, she has gained experience across many areas of the industry including residential and commercial design, kitchen and bath design, hospitality design, CGI design, and commercial photography. Julie loves helping clients turn their ideas into spaces that are not only beautiful, but functional and personal to them.

When she’s not designing, Julie enjoys spending time with family and friends and listening to live music. We’re grateful to have her creativity and experience on the Wolfe team!

A beautiful home takes craftsmanship, but a great experience for a client takes lots of project management experience.

One thing we’re especially proud of at Wolfe Homes is the depth of experience across our project management team. Most of our project managers have been doing this work for 25 to 30 years.

That kind of experience matters. It means they’ve seen the unexpected, solved hard problems, built strong relationships with trade partners, and know how to keep a custom build or renovation moving with clarity and care.
