🐅💙 One of the best parts of living in a small town like Gunter is the way our schools, coaches, teachers, and community invest in our kids.

From basketball and football to cheer, volleyball, wrestling, track, drill team, and twirlers, there are so many opportunities this summer for Gunter students to learn new skills, build confidence, make friends, and stay active. 👏🏻

These camps are about more than sports and activities. They’re about community.

They’re where younger students get to learn from older Tiger athletes, where future teammates meet for the first time, and where lifelong memories are made. It’s one more reason so many families love calling Gunter home.

Whether your child is trying something new or continuing a sport they already love, there’s a camp for everyone this summer.

🚧🛣️ THE DALLAS NORTH TOLLWAY ISN’T JUST COMING TO GRAYSON COUNTY—IT’S PLANNED TO CONNECT ALL THE WAY TO US-75.

If you’ve ever wondered why so many people are paying attention to land, development, and growth around Gunter, this map helps tell the story. 👀

The long-range Grayson County Tollway corridor study shows the future route extending north from the Gunter area, continuing through Grayson County, and ultimately connecting into US-75 near Denison.

Why is this important?

Major transportation corridors often become catalysts for:
✔️ New residential development
✔️ Commercial growth
✔️ Retail and restaurants
✔️ Employment opportunities
✔️ Utility expansion
✔️ Increased connectivity across the region

Looking at these maps, you can see how the corridor is planned to pass through the Gunter area near FM 121 before continuing north toward Pottsboro and eventually tying into US-75.

For years, growth in North Texas has followed major transportation investments. While timelines can change and projects of this size take years to complete, this corridor remains one of the most significant long-term infrastructure projects proposed for Grayson County.

This is exactly why I spend so much time studying:

▪️ Utility agreements
▪️ Future road corridors
▪️ Development applications
▪️ Land use maps

Because understanding where the roads are planned often helps explain where future growth may occur.

🎓📚 DID YOU KNOW GUNTER HAD A COLLEGE OVER 120 YEARS AGO?

Most people know Gunter today for its outstanding schools and strong sense of community.

But did you know Gunter was home to an actual college in 1903?

This historic photo shows Gunter Bible College, which opened on December 4, 1903. Organized by the Church of Christ, the school operated until 1928 and eventually expanded beyond a junior college to include elementary, high school, and college-level education.

Think about that for a second…

More than 120 years ago, students were coming to Gunter for an education.

What’s fascinating is that education has been part of Gunter’s identity for generations. Long before the growth we’re seeing today, families were already choosing Gunter as a place to learn, grow, and build a future.

The college later evolved into what became known as the Gunter Bible Church School, shown in the second historic photo from 1909.

As someone who spent 16 years in education and now serves on the Gunter ISD Ambassador, I love uncovering pieces of local history like this. It’s amazing to see how deeply education is woven into the story of our town.

Today, Gunter ISD is one of the biggest reasons families move here. But the connection between Gunter and education didn’t start recently—it started more than a century ago.
