With a winter storm forecasted for this weekend, here are a few simple reminders to help protect your home and keep your household comfortable:
1. Stock non-perishable food, water, medications, and pet supplies
2. Bring pets indoors and ensure they have warmth, food, and any needed medications
3. Top off your gas tank and fully charge phones, battery packs, and laptops
4. Drain and cover outdoor faucets, insulate exposed pipes, and locate your main water shut-off
5. During hard freezes, drip faucets and open cabinets under sinks on exterior walls
6. Bring in or cover sensitive plants
7. Check generators, fireplaces, or space heaters and review safe-use guidelines
8. Have flashlights, batteries, or LED lanterns ready and enroll in local emergency alerts
A bit of preparation goes a long way in preventing disruption and protecting what matters most. If you’re able, it’s also a good time to check in on neighbors, especially those who may need extra support.
And if you experience any damage, don’t hesitate to reach out, I’m happy to share trusted contractor recommendations.
