❄️ Winter Weather Update for Chapin ❄️

Yes… it’s still happening!

The newest information from the National Weather Service continues to show a significant winter storm moving into our area, with snow beginning Saturday morning and lasting into Sunday morning. This could be one of the most impactful winter weather events our area has seen in over a decade. 

🌨️ What We’re Expecting
• 5–9 inches of snow in the Chapin/central Midlands area
• Snow begins Saturday morning and becomes heavy at times Saturday afternoon & evening
• Winds 25–35 mph could reduce visibility and blow snow across roadways
• Travel conditions will deteriorate quickly and remain hazardous into Sunday

🥶 Extreme Cold Warning

Saturday night into Sunday morning temperatures will drop into the teens with wind chills as low as -5° to 5°.

🚗 Travel Advisory

Roads will become slick, icy, and dangerous, especially Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning.
If you can stay home and enjoy the rare snow, please do!

🚓 Chapin PD Readiness

Our officers will be on duty throughout the storm.
Please use caution, limit unnecessary travel, and check on neighbors who may need assistance.

If you have a generator, please keep it 20 feet away from any door or window and direct the exhaust away from your home. If you are using gasoline, let it cool down before refilling. The flashpoint of gasoline is -45 F. Stay safe!!

We had a great meeting this morning. Thank you to our presenter Scott Hanners - State Farm Insurance Agent for the information on "Holiday Coverage" and for sharing great tips for the holiday season, and for providing a wonderful breakfast meal cooked by Small Packages LLC.
