A little perspective: mortgage rates have never moved in a straight line.

Over the years, buyers have seen rates range from around 3% to more than 16%. Today’s 6.67% rate is well below historic highs and similar to rates seen during many previous markets.

The record-low rates of recent years were the exception—not the norm. Rather than trying to perfectly time the market, focus on the payment, property and long-term plan that make sense for you.

The current 30-year fixed rate for June 2026 is 6.52%. While higher than the record lows we saw in 2021, today's rates remain well below many periods throughout history—including the double-digit rates of the 1980s.
