Things I’d do differently if I moved to Southern Indiana + Louisville, KY again… 👇
1️⃣Explore more neighborhoods first
I’d take my time driving through New Albany, Jeffersonville, Floyds K***s, and nearby Louisville areas, walking the streets, and really getting a feel for each pocket before deciding.
2️⃣Pay attention to my daily commute
It might not seem like a big deal at first, but crossing the bridge, timing traffic, and your “everyday route” will shape your routine more than you think.
3️⃣Rent before buying (if you can)
Even a short-term rental in Southern Indiana or across the river in Louisville can help you figure out what lifestyle actually fits you best, quiet suburban, historic downtown, or city energy.
4️⃣Find my go-to local spots early
Coffee shops in New Albany, weekend brunch spots in Jeffersonville, parks along the Ohio River… the little routines make it feel like home faster than anything else.
5️⃣Talk to more locals
No one knows the differences between neighborhoods here better than the people who live them every day, especially when you’re comparing Indiana vs. Louisville living.
