Yonna clarifies

The management of Yonna has contacted us to clarify the situation regarding the wet bags of rice seen on a truck.

According to documents shown to us, the rice was not being transported to any of Yonna’s retail outlets. Instead, it was being taken to the company’s warehouse for FSQA inspection and recommendations on how the damaged rice should be disposed of.

Yonna has already written to the shipping company to inform them that the rice was damaged while on board and has requested that the resulting financial losses be addressed. Therefore, the company must wait for the FSQA inspection and recommendations before taking any further action.

Yonna’s General Manager, Momodou Barrow, told us that his company would never sell expired or substandard rice to Gambians. He said the rice sold by Yonna is the same rice that he consumes with his own family.

He also invited us to visit the company’s warehouse to independently observe the condition and quality of their rice. Inshallah, we will send a cameraman to the facility and share the footage with the public.

We would like to thank Yonna’s management for their transparency and for providing clarification on the matter.

President Barrow: Am a big fan of term limits, am number one fan because it is good for our institutions.

Pa Njie Girigara alleges that business people including himself do give President Barrow money and so he the president has no need to take the State Reserved land at Fajara as his private residence.
He added that Barrow’s biggest mistake is taking that land and appropriating it to himself. He said whoever advised the president to take the land is his enemy and advised the president to return it to the state.
“ Please, Mr President give up that mansion,even if it means gifting the building to the State because the land belongs to the State “, Njie said.
