🐾 **Happy National Dog Day from the dog who nearly took 10 years off my life yesterday.** 😂❤️
Yesterday, my housekeeper was here, I was working at my desk, and the kids had been in and out. Pretty normal day.
I got up to get Charlie and Desi a chicken paw treat and let them outside. Charlie came hopping over immediately because… TREATS.
Desi? Nowhere to be found.
I searched the house and checked the cameras trying to figure out the last time I'd seen her. Nothing.
Then the panic set in.
Had someone let her out and the lawn guy left the gate open? How long had she been gone?
I jumped in the car and spent about 30 minutes driving through the neighborhood and down the road looking for her.
Nothing.
By the time I came home, I was sick to my stomach. Someone has tried to dognap her before, so naturally my mind had already gone to every horrible possibility. 😩
I decided to search the house ONE more time in case we'd accidentally shut her somewhere.
I walked through the laundry room, opened the garage door...
**AND IN WALKS DESI.**
Like, *“Oh hey, Mom. Where ya been?”* 🙄😂
Apparently my housekeeper went into the garage around 10 to get the mop bucket and Desi slipped in behind her. We found her at 1:00.
Three hours.
Not a bark. Not a scratch. Nothing.
She was cool to the touch and wasn't even panting, so apparently Miss Desi found herself a nice cool spot and settled in while her mother was driving around the neighborhood having an emotional breakdown. 🤦♀️😂
So on National Dog Day, here's to the dogs we love enough to frantically search the neighborhood for...
**while they're taking a nap in the garage.** 😂🐾❤️
What would we do without our Desi?
Happy National Dog Day to Desi, Charlie, and all the pups who make life better—and occasionally scare us half to death. 🐶❤️
