In just two weeks, Tennessee’s 3rd annual Blackberry Festival gets underway in the town of Powell, TN near Knoxville, always making for one of the best small-town events of the early summer in the Volunteer State! Set for Saturday, June 27th, this easygoing summer festival will take place at Powell Presbyterian Church on West Emory Road from 9 AM to 2 PM, with the day getting started even earlier as the 5K begins at 8 AM from Powell Middle School. The race route winds through the Broadacres neighborhood, takes runners over a few rolling hills, and finishes near the entrance to Broadacres, right across from the church where the festival fun will be waiting.

Once the festival is in full swing, visitors can enjoy food trucks, local vendors, fresh lemonade, sweet blackberry treats, handmade crafts, artwork, games, and plenty of small-town shopping in one relaxed spot. Live music is planned from noon until 2 PM, giving the afternoon that laid-back East Tennessee feel, while the Kid Zone adds extra fun for families with inflatables, games, and even a firetruck for kids to check out up close. Powell Presbyterian Church has been part of the Powell community since 1969, and proceeds from the race help support the church’s ministries, making the day feel even more connected to the local community. Parking will be available at Powell Middle and Powell High, with shuttle service running to and from the festival, making it easier to come out, walk around, grab a treat, browse the vendors, and enjoy one of the Knoxville area’s sweetest early-summer events.

Calling all apple lovers.

In Chattanooga, Tennessee in just a few months the Chattanooga Apple Festival gets underway just as the weather cools off and the fall season starts to take hold of the Volunteer State! Set for October 17th and 18th, 2026 at Camp Jordan in East Ridge, this two-day fall festival brings together everything people love about autumn in Tennessee, from rows of vendors and food trucks to apple treats, family activities, live entertainment, and plenty of seasonal fun.

The festival is an outdoor-only event, so the whole park takes on that crisp fall festival feel as guests wander through craft booths, commercial vendors, and food stops packed with sweet and savory favorites. One of the biggest highlights is the fresh apples from Mercier Orchards, a fourth-generation family-owned and veteran-operated orchard in Blue Ridge, Georgia that began back in 1943 as a roadside stand selling apples. Along with the apples, you can expect caramel apples, candy apples, apple fritters, fried pies, apple cider donuts, apple cobbler, apple pie, frozen cider slushies, caramel apple milkshakes, caramel apple nachos, and even apple pie boiled peanuts.

Kids will have plenty to do too, with a petting zoo, pony rides, inflatables, trackless train rides, face painting, and more happening throughout the weekend. Camp Jordan itself sits right off Exit 1 on I-75, making it an easy fall road trip stop for folks coming from Chattanooga, North Georgia, or anywhere across East Tennessee. The festival runs Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM and Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM, and both admission and parking are free. Tennessee has plenty of great events coming through spring and summer, but this is one of those fall weekends worth marking on the calendar early!

Beginning June 19th, the North Carolina Blueberry Festival gets underway in the charming little downtown area of the small town of Burgaw, NC! This beloved early-summer festival celebrates the blueberry-growing heritage of southeastern North Carolina, and it turns downtown Burgaw into a lively weekend filled with food, music, vendors, family fun, and plenty of fresh local berries.

The fun begins Friday night with a free 7:30 PM concert on the Main Stage, followed by the full festival day on Saturday, June 20th, when the streets around town fill with arts and craft vendors, food booths, live entertainment, kids activities, a car and truck show, barbecue, baked goods, and all kinds of blueberry treats. You’ll find farmers and vendors offering fresh blueberries along with pies, cakes, drinks, cobblers, and other sweets that show off the crop this area is known for.

Burgaw is a fitting place for the celebration, too, since Pender County played a major role in North Carolina’s blueberry story. Harold Graham Huntington helped bring commercial blueberry farming to this part of the state in the late 1920s, and by 1939 his Pender County blueberry farm was known as the largest in the world. Today, southeastern North Carolina still produces most of the state’s commercial blueberry crop, thanks in part to the acidic sandy soil that blueberries love. With free admission, small-town charm, live music, local flavor, and a full day of festival fun, the North Carolina Blueberry Festival is one of those June events that feels like summer in the South from the moment you arrive.
