Heading to Oʻahu today for a press conference with the Governor! We were invited as part of the coalition that worked to get Question 2 on the ballot.

No new tax. No increase in property tax rates required. RISE would give counties another tool to help pay for the roads, water, and sewer infrastructure we keep saying we need.

I put together a plain-language explanation of how it works, why it matters for Hawaiʻi Island, and why leaving Question 2 blank is not sitting this one out.

Today, I’m flying to Oʻahu for an afternoon press conference with the Governor! We were invited as part of the coalition that advocated to get this financing tool on the ballot. After working to move this forward, I’m excited to be there as Hawaiʻi voters consider Question 2.

Calling Bill 147 “housekeeping” has gone beyond being inaccurate. It is a seriously misleading description of legislation that proposes significant policy changes affecting zoning, permitting and property rights. When even Council members are still trying to unpack what the bill and its amendments actually do, the public deserves better than a label that minimizes its scope. Call it what it is: a major policy bill.

The video says it all... gorgeous golf course, ocean and sunset views, and one of Waikoloa Village's most convenient locations. Even better, this condo is located in CV-10 zoning and is not part of the area of concern that has generated much of the recent discussion surrounding Bill 147. Enjoy the tour!

One of the questions I've been hearing most over the past few weeks is: "Does Bill 147 affect this property?" For this beautiful Waikoloa Village Condominium, the answer is reassuring. This condo is located in CV-10 (Village Commercial) zoning, not RM (Multiple Family Residential).
