Forest Field Park in 📍Centerville is one of my favorite spots to take the kids when I need them to actually decompress. Wide open fields, a great accessible playground (and sensory play area!), and the bonus it connects to Bill Yeck Park walking trails 🌳

For military families PCS'ing to Wright-Patterson AFB who are thinking long-term — Centerville is a great option.

Less starter homes, more established homes. These are the homes people buy when they decide Dayton is where they're staying — military or not.

🏠 4+bed colonials, ranches, and split-levels on mature lots
📐 2,000–4,000 sq ft
💰 $350k–$650k — established value that holds and appreciates
⏱ 20–30 min to Wright-Patterson AFB
🌲 Big trees, quiet cul-de-sacs, close to shoppin

📍Fairborn Central Park has a splash pad that the kids love. I just show up, open a chair, and accept that we're not leaving for at least two hours. 💦

But here's what I really want folks relocating to Wright-Patterson AFB to know about Fairborn:

It's the most underpriced neighborhood near WPAFB for what you get — and it's literally right next to base.

🏠 Ranch homes and two-stories, 3–4 bed, solid bones
📐 1,400–2,200 sq ft — bigger lots than you'd expect
💰 $180k–$280k — the best value near WPAFB
⏱ 5–10 min commute to Wright-Patterson — the shortest in the area
🔧 A lot of them have been updated and move-in ready

Took the kids to Rotary Park in Beavercreek last weekend and it did not disappoint. Seven-acre lake, big playground, sandbox, walking path, and a skate park — my kids bounced between all of it and I actually caught my breath for five minutes. 😅

If you're PCS'ing to Wright-Patterson AFB this summer, Beavercreek is probably on your list — and for good reason.

Here's what you're typically looking at in Beavercreek right now:

🏠 3–4 bed, 2-car garage, mix of traditional and open floorplans
📐 1,800–2,800 sq ft
💰 $360k–$480k (new construction pushing toward $600k+)
⏱ 10–18 min commute to WPAFB
🌿 Walkable neighborhoods with sidewalks and actual trees

The homes here have the layouts you actually want — first-floor laundry, big primary suites, finished basements. And you're a short drive from one of the best park systems in Greene County.
