As we start wrapping up another season, I’ve found myself thinking a lot about what this business has become…🩵
When I first started cleaning, I was almost embarrassed to tell people what I did. Scrubbing toilets was never the dream life I envisioned for myself. I knew I was working hard, but I didn’t necessarily see it as something to be proud of yet.
My first year, I was SO proud to have completed 100 cleans completely on my own. This year, Coastal Cleaning 252 has 953 cleans scheduled!! ✨
Somewhere between those 100 and 953, my perspective completely changed.
This season has especially reminded me that what we do is about so much more than cleaning houses. My employees remind me that they work beside me because this business gives them more opportunity. Opportunity for their children and grandchildren, opportunity for themselves and the ability to build a life outside of work that they’re proud of. 🫶🏼
And I get to do the same for my child. Because of “scrubbing toilets,” I’ve been able to give us a life full of experiences, excitement and opportunities that I once only hoped for.
The Outer Banks season is not easy. For months, we run hard. Long days, back to back turnovers, no weekends off and much more happening behind the scenes. But as things finally start to slow down, I get to look around at the women who worked beside me, the owners who trusted us with their homes and everything we accomplished together and realize just how much there is to be proud of!
Success doesn’t always look the way you thought it would. Sometimes it looks like dirty houses, tired feet and work that other people may look down on. But there is nothing embarrassing about working hard and building something that creates a better life for the people you love.
As we wrap up this season, I’m really proud of Coastal Cleaning 252, the women behind it and the life this little cleaning business has allowed all of us to build!
Turns out, it was never “just cleaning”… 🩵
