As Hurricane Erin moves along the coast, here are some important reminders to help you protect your home. Stay Safe everyone
Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, and now is the time to make sure your home and family are prepared.
Here are some key tips to help protect your property before a storm hits:
• Protect Windows: Install hurricane shutters or have precut plywood in advance to board up windows to protect them from flying debris
• Trim Trees: Keep trees around your home trimmed well before a storm to prevent damage from broken branches
• Seal Windows: Use caulk to prevent wind-driven rain from seeping in
• Review Insurance Coverage: Check your policies ahead of time to ensure your home and belongings are covered—especially for flooding, which is the leading cause of hurricane damage
• Secure Loose Items: Bring in outdoor furniture, grills, and yard décor. These can become dangerous projectiles in high winds.
