Something new is coming to Slaycation! We’ve blocked off all of November for a major renovation This isn’t just a fresh coat of paint, we’re gutting one room and making it completely new! We can’t wait to show you the finished result in December.

Meet the newest member of the Slaycation family… PEPPER THE PUG! She joined us at the beach house today, so it felt like the perfect time for a proper introduction!

We’re looking forward to many more beach trips and family memories with this sweet little girl—and a slightly unreasonable number of photos along the way. Consider this your warning: Pepper (along with Patrick the Pug) will be making regular appearances around here!

LOVE LOVE LOVE seeing the OBX community come together for this Roanoke couple during last week's nor'easter. Huge shoutout to Frisco Woods Campground and every local who pitched in. This welcoming, caring spirit is exactly why we fell in love with the Outer Banks so many years ago.

Noooo! Definitely not what you want to see. Avon Fishing Pier NC has suffered significant damage from the nor’easter. They report the seas are still too rough to fully inspect the damage and understand what next steps may be.

Day two of this wicked Nor’Easter and WOW the seas are angry! All is looking good at Slaycation though. Our stretch of beach has yet to undergo beach renourishment but so far reports are that the dunes are holding strong and no overwash has been reported along our stretch of shoreline. 💪 🤞

When we were decorating Slaycation, it was really important to us to seek out small businesses, local craftsmen, and unique pieces that gave the home a little personality!

These are two of our favorites! Both were handcrafted by Fishman Carvings, and we love how much character they bring to the house. Colorful, coastal, a little quirky, and exactly the kind of thing we hoped to find when we started putting Slaycation together.

We love seeing Fishman Carvings pop up at coastal shops and festivals, and we’re already keeping our eyes open for the next piece that belongs here!

It’s turtle hatching season on the Outer Banks, so it feels like the perfect time to give you a peek inside The Kendall! When we were adding our own touches to Slaycation, a few sea turtles (from The Rustic Mermaid Vendor Market) found their way into this room… and then a few more. From the bedding to the wooden turtles on the walls, we had a lot of fun bringing this little coastal retreat to life.

The Kendall also has an attached full bathroom — just like every bedroom at Slaycation — for a little extra comfort and convenience during your stay.

After recently watching baby sea turtles emerge from their nest and make their way to the ocean, we’re loving our turtle-filled corner of the house even more. These turtles, at least, seem pretty happy to stay put!
