Another huge shoutout to RCI Custom Construction Inc.! This week when our guest notified us the upstairs wasn’t cooling properly, RCI was there within the hour, had a broken capacitor replaced in no time and Slaycation OBX back to a comfortable temperature on a hot day! Thanks guys for great service!

Why is the Outer Banks so special to us? In many ways, our story began right here.

Nearly two years before we ever met, we were both vacationing with our families. Madelaine and her family were fishing at Nags Head Pier when they stopped to take a photo. At that exact moment, Parker was fishing with his family nearby and unknowingly photobombed the picture.

Years later, Parker recreated that very photo as part of his proposal to Madelaine.

The Outer Banks has given us so many memories over the years, and it’s a big part of why Slaycation means so much to us.

We decided the bedrooms at Slaycation deserved better names than just “the queen room on the right” or “the room with the blue walls.” So when we purchased the home in March, we named each bedroom after the beautiful lady who stayed in that room on our very first night as owners.

Introducing The Madelaine, The Margaux, The Jackie, The Madison, and last but certainly not least, The Kendall!

Today we honor the sacrifices of the men and women who gave everything for our country. Heroes in every sense of the word, they believed in something bigger than themselves. They believed the United States of America was worth fighting for.

The salt air on the beach can be RELENTLESS! There is always something to keep us busy at Slaycation.

That’s why we’re so thankful to partner with Joe Lamb Jr. & Associates to help ensure everything is not only up to our standards and theirs — but most importantly SAFE for every guest.

Today around 3pm, their weekly inspector noticed a railing had worked loose, likely from the storms we’ve had recently. Less than two hours later, RCI Custom Construction Inc. had the old railing removed and a brand new, rock-solid one installed so our guests could move in on time with zero interruptions or delays.

It takes a great local team to keep a beach house running, and we’re incredibly grateful for ours.
