Owning a home means there is ALWAYS something you’re supposed to be maintaining… and somehow no one gives you the instruction manual.

A few of the most commonly forgotten ones: cleaning your dryer vent, flushing your water heater, checking under sinks and around toilets for slow leaks, cleaning gutters, testing smoke/CO detectors, checking your attic or crawlspace for moisture, cleaning your dishwasher filter (yes, it has one 😂), inspecting washing machine hoses, and making sure water is draining AWAY from your foundation.

My biggest advice? Twice a year, just walk around your house and LOOK. Under sinks. Around windows. At ceilings. In the attic or crawlspace. Around the exterior.

Most expensive home problems don’t start expensive. They start as a tiny leak, weird smell, little stain, small crack, or water going somewhere it shouldn’t.

Catch the little stuff before it becomes the big stuff. 🙌
