📢 Realtor Update: FinCEN Reporting Is Now in Effect

As of March 1st, the new FinCEN rules for certain residential real estate closings are officially active.

We’re sharing two quick reference guides from our underwriter to help you identify when a FinCEN report is needed and what your clients should be prepared to provide.

Heads up! 📢 A major change is coming to real estate transactions across the country.

​Starting March 1, 2026, a new federal law from the U.S. Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) goes into effect. This nationwide Anti-Money Laundering Rule introduces new reporting requirements for certain residential real estate transfers to help combat illicit finance.

What you need to know:

​The Scope: This applies to non-financed (cash) transfers of residential property to business entities or trusts.

​The Deadline: On or after March 1, 2026, closings cannot occur until the required Real Estate Report is completed and provided to the Title Agency.

​The Info: Be prepared to provide details on individual owners of the purchasing entity and information regarding the sellers.

​This is a federal mandate that applies in every state, so it is vital to stay informed if you are planning a transaction this spring.
