Comeaux Recreation Center is back open!

Following a $750,000 renovation, the recreation center is once again welcoming residents into the renovated space.

The renovations included facility repairs, new ceilings and lighting, interior painting, sidewalk repairs, refreshed landscaping and added insulation to improve energy efficiency.

Residents can enjoy Zumba, karate, aerobics, free play and access to the weight room, with more activities available throughout the month.

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) Bridge Closure Alert:

🔷 The Eloi Broussard Bridge over the Vermilion River on LA 733 (Eloi Broussard Road), at milepost 1.25, will be closed Wednesday, August 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., weather permitting.

The closure is necessary to allow crews to perform repairs to the bridge deck and other required maintenance.

Motorists should expect a detour using LA 92 (Milton Avenue), LA 339 (Verot School Road), LA 3073 (Ambassador Caffery Parkway) and US 167 (Johnston Street) and plan accordingly. Emergency vehicles will not have access to the area during the closure and will need to seek alternate routes.
