Home appraisals are changing November 2. Are your home improvement records ready?
A new appraisal reporting standard will soon be required for home appraisals, bringing more detailed property information into the appraisal report.
One simple thing homeowners can do now? Document your improvements. Save the dates and details of renovations and major replacements, along with receipts, invoices, permits, warranties, and photos when available.
A $20,000 renovation doesn't automatically mean $20,000 in additional appraised value — but having accurate information about what was done and when can help ensure your home's improvements are clearly documented as appraisers will be entering more details into their reports when appraising your home.
