About 7,000 American farmers grow roughly 7 billion pounds of peanuts each year, with 75% of their crop staying right here in the U.S. feeding American families.
Georgia, Texas, Florida, Alabama, and the Carolinas are among the top peanut-producing states.
Beyond the field, peanuts pack some impressive nutritional value, too. One ounce provides 7 grams of plant-based protein, 2.5 grams of fiber, and more than 30 essential vitamins and minerals.
As if that weren't enough, peanuts are also part of the legume family and can be an instrumental nitrogen fixer in well-managed crop rotations.
Small crop. Big impact.
Happy National Peanut Day to the farmers who grow them!
