Tonight, the Star on the Mountain will flash 23 times at 9:00 PM in remembrance of the lives lost during the August 3rd, 2019, tragedy.
Seven years later, the weight of that day remains. Still, El Paso rises, grounded in love, culture, and community.

If you’ve driven through Artcraft lately, you’ve probably noticed the ongoing construction. The project is part of a major TxDOT overhaul of SH 178 (Artcraft Road) and the I-10 interchange.

The goal is to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and create direct connector ramps between I-10 and Artcraft. Plans also include new overpasses at Upper Valley Road and Westside Drive, expanded frontage roads, and upgrades to better handle commercial traffic traveling to and from the Santa Teresa Port of Entry.

While the construction has been frustrating for many drivers, TxDOT says the long-term project is set to continue through 2030.
