She asked for purple. I gave her Plum. 💜

My client loves purple, but rather than simply adding more purple things to the room, I wanted to use color in a way that would actually change how the space felt.

So we looked up.

Sherwin-Williams Plum Brown SW 6272 took the ceiling from something you barely noticed to one of the defining features of the entry. Its deep red-brown undertones give us the richness of purple while feeling sophisticated enough to complement the black console, brass accents, and pieces my client already owned.

And that’s my favorite part: we didn’t need to start over to make the room feel different. We needed to make the right decisions.

Sherwin-Williams describes the color as a powerful purplish hue with a sense of “refined majesty.”

Considering my client… I’d say we chose appropriately. 😉⚖️

Demo. Dust. Plumbing. Electrical. Unexpected discoveries. Installations. Adjustments. And approximately 847 decisions. 🤪

The Gathered Kitchen was a true transformation—not a cosmetic refresh. We reworked the kitchen, expanded its functionality, incorporated a much larger island, added storage and carried new flooring throughout the adjoining spaces.

This is the part clients don't always see when they look at a finished portfolio image.

But it's also where a good design becomes a real home.

A beautiful kitchen starts long before demo day.

Before cabinets are installed or countertops are templated, we're making dozens of decisions about undertones, texture, scale, contrast and how every material will relate to the next.

For The Gathered Kitchen, the palette began with warm wood, soft white cabinetry, subtly veined quartz and handmade-look tile.

Individually, each selection is beautiful. Together, they needed to tell the same story.

This is one of my favorite parts of the design process—watching a room exist in samples and sketches before anyone else can quite see the finished picture yet.

And yes, I will absolutely obsess over which white works best. It's part of the service. 😉

After years of cool gray everything, one of my favorite shifts in interiors has been the return of warm, natural wood.

It adds something a painted finish simply can't—movement, texture, and warmth.

I especially love pairing wood with soft whites, natural stone and aged metals for a home that feels collected rather than overly coordinated.

The Gathered Kitchen was designed around one simple idea: create a kitchen that worked just as beautifully for everyday life as it did for gathering.

What began as a dated kitchen with limited prep space and an undersized island became a warm, layered space with an oversized gathering island, custom cabinetry, thoughtful storage, new flooring, and details designed specifically for the way this family lives.

Because a successful renovation isn't just about making a home prettier.

It's about making life at home better.

One of the things I love most about living and working in Bay Area Houston is the connection to the water.

There's something about the coastal light, the slower pace, and the natural textures that continually inspire the homes I design.
