Oak Park Mall is in the news!

Oak Park Mall could be in for a major makeover. Owner CBL Properties has filed plans to redevelop the roughly 90-acre Overland Park property into a mixed-use district. The proposal includes 260 apartments, a 120-room hotel, and a performing arts center for The Culture House, plus new restaurants, office and retail space, a relocated Chick-fil-A, a new roundabout, and a public park with a butterfly garden. The mall's anchor stores stay put.

For now it is still a proposal.

It heads to the Overland Park Planning Commission on September 14.
