This week’s Plant of the Week is Sand Lovegrass (Eragrostis trichodes), a native perennial bunchgrass that really shows off this time of year with an airy haze of red and purple from late summer into early fall.

Beyond its good looks, Sand Lovegrass is highly drought-tolerant, deer-resistant, and provides food, nesting material, and cover for local wildlife. It’s also a great fit for xeric landscapes.

A closer look at Colorado’s birds of prey is coming to the High Plains Environmental Center. 🦅

This Saturday, August 29, from 9–10 am, the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program-RMRP is bringing a few of its Educational Ambassadors to the High Plains Environmental Center for a morning all about raptors, wildlife rehabilitation and conservation.

You could meet an American Kestrel, Red-Tailed Hawk, Eastern Screech Owl, Bald Eagle or another incredible raptor. The lineup is a surprise! 👀
